KUALA LUMPUR: All economic sectors including the manufacturing sector in six districts in Selangor placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO) are allowed to operate as usual except for certain activities listed under the negative list under the MCO 3.0 general Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
According to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), the MCO 3.0 general SOP were based on existing SOP except for dine-in activities which are not allowed in restaurants.
“Companies must comply with the SOP and are subject to the existing Work from Home (WFH) procedures, that is, only 30 per cent of management staff can come to the office as usual without restrictions in working hours, while the attendance of operation/support staff is to be determined by the employer at their discretion,” it said in a statement today.
The SOP can be accessed on the National Security Council’s website at www.mkn.gov.my.
Hence, MITI urged the industrial sector to continue to cooperate with the government to ensure the success of containing the spread of the COVID-19 infections.
“Enforcement activities will be enhanced by the enforcement agencies based on early warning system evaluation or Hotspots Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE), which is able to detect high-risk locations that are the sources of the transmission of the COVID-19 infections,” it said.
The move is more targeted and effective compared with closure as a whole, it added.
“Companies that are found not to have complied with the SOP will face legal action including closure of the company’s operations for a certain period,” it said.
Besides that, MITI also urged all state government agencies including the local authorities to take proactive measures and jointly cooperate with the federal government to enhance enforcement activities for mutual safety.
