Efforts underway to track down 'Isis Malaysia 69' video owner
A screengrab of the video that was uploaded on YouTube last Sunday, purportedly calling for people to protest the country's judiciary.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is working with the police to track down the owner of the YouTube account 'Isis Malaysia 69', said MCMC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Halim Shafie.
"Whatever help needed, we will provide. We are already in touch with the police and cooperating with them," he told reporters when asked to comment on the production of the video.
Halim said this after witnessing an exchange of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the MCMC and the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) at the Commission, here Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman CID director, Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh, said police will work with MCMC to track down the video owner and take legal action under Section 124C of the Penal Code for offences affecting parliamentary democracy.
"The individual is also liable for legal action under the Special Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA)," he told press conference at Kuala Muda district police headquarters here today.
Yesterday, the Inspector-general of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police were looking for the owner of the YouTube account 'Isis Malaysia 69' to facilitate investigations related to the video which attempts to incite the people to protest against the country's judicial system.
In the one-minute video, four individuals in black garbs with their faces covered, warned they would hold protests against the judicial system by setting off fire crackers on Feb 18 at 11.30pm.
