Electricity in Kota Bharu has been fully restored by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) on Sunday after floods devastation caused most parts of the state to go dark for almost two weeks since mid-Dec.
To date, a total of 1,864 out of 1,960 TNB substations in Kelantan have resumed operations since 8am, today.
TNB distribution division senior general manager (Region 2 Operation) Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid in a statement said that over 95 per cent of the people in the state can now receive electricity supplies again.
"Supply has been fully reinstated in Kota Bharu. The team from TNB is now focusing on efforts to overhaul the supply to the remaining 5 per cent areas that have not been restored including Kuala Krai, Gua Musang and Tanah Merah.
"All evacuation centers in the states affected by floods have access to electricity," he said.
According to Abdul Aziz, the number of power substations in Pahang which had yet to resume operations dropped to 150 from 584 substations as a result of it being suspended during the floods. In Perak, 47 substations had yet to resume operations.
Abdul Aziz also said that TNB will continue to be committed to ensure that all users in all the states involved have electricity by making sure all the electrical infrastructure are in best condition.
