Embezzlement of tithe money: Three other ZPP officers remanded

Three other ZPP officers have been remanded for six days to facilitate the investigations into the alleged embezzlement of tithe money in the state.
Three other Penang Zakat Centre (ZPP) officers have been remanded for six days to facilitate the investigations into the alleged embezzlement of tithe money in the state.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate L. Umma Devi following application submitted by the Penang branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Yesterday, Penang MACC director Datuk Abd Aziz Aban in a statement said the three men, aged between 33 and 49, were nabbed at 4.30 pm on Monday at the ZPP office, bringing the total number of individuals arrested in connection with the case to 15.
Previously, Penang MACC arrested 12 suspects, including a senior ZPP officer, three ZPP officers and eight contractors, aged between 41 and 52 years old.
The two ZPP officers were released on bail of RM10,000 each while eight contractors were released on bail of RM5,000 each.
Meanwhile, the remand period for the senior ZPP officer and another ZPP officer were extended another four days from yesterday.
