The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at the City One Tower, Jalan Munshi Abdullah here, which began at midnight yesterday was carried out in controlled conditions.
A check by Astro AWANI in the area found that all entrances and exits were manned by security forces, including the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and the Malaysian Volunteers (RELA), to ensure that the order was obeyed by all parties.
The EMCO, however, allowed the purchase of essential goods online or food delivery services but they would be placed more than one meter from the recipients.
Our observation also found that every two hours the authorities would remind all occupants of the condominium to remain indoors using speakers.
The government decided to enforce the EMCO at the City One Tower as of midnight last night until April 13 after 17 positive cases of COVID-19 infection was reported there. The decision was also made following the advice of the Minister of Health to break the chain of infection.
For the record, the EMCO involved 3,200 residents in 502 condominium units and business premises in the tower.
