KUALA LUMPUR: Several areas in Johor, Sabah and Pahang will be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from Tuesday, June 22 until July 5, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the areas in Johor are Kampung Tanjung Genting, Kampung Benaung, Kampung Makam and Kampung Sawah Datok in Tenglu sub-district, Mersing.
"The Ministry of Health (MOH) has detected a spike in COVID-19 cases in the four localities where 54 positive cases have been recorded after 268 screenings were conducted.
"In Sabah, the localities are Kampung Skim Pamalan, in Keningau, Kampung Jaya Baru in Kunak, Taman Wijaya Park in Kota Kinabalu, Kampung Serudung Baru in Tawau and Ladang Brumas in Kalabakan.
"In Kampung Skim Pamalan, 30 tested positive as a result of 339 screenings or the positivity rate is 8.84 percent," he said in a statement on the Movement Control Order (MCO) development today.
In Kampung Jaya Baru, he said there were 20 positive cases, Taman Wijaya Park (12 cases), Kampung Serudung Baru (10 cases) Ladang Brumas (nine cases).
As for Pahang, Ismail Sabri said, five housing estates in Mentakab, Temerloh, namely Taman Bukit Bendera, Taman Rimba, Taman Sri Layang, Taman Saga and Taman Saga Indah would be placed under EMCO after the MOH detected an increase in COVID-19 cases.
He said eight cases were detected in Taman Bukit Bendera, Taman Rimba (10 cases), Taman Saga (three cases), Taman Saga Indah (two cases) and Taman Sri Layang (seven cases).
He said with the EMCO in place, this would facilitate MOH to conduct targeted screening on the residents and curb the spread of COVID-19 infection to other communities.
At the same time, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO in Kampung Pulutan, Nabawan in Sabah, which was scheduled to end tomorrow, has been extended to July 5 after the number of infections continued to rise among residents in the area.
Meanwhile, he said the EMCO imposed in Kampung Murni C in Nabawan; Kampung Tamalang and Kampung Tuguson in Kota Belud; Kampung Bergosong, Pulau Sebatik in Tawau; Kampung Ongkilan in Kota Marudu; Kampung Jaya Gading, part of Kampung Seri Damai and Bandar Baru Jaya Gading in Jaya Gading as well as the Gebeng Industrial area in Kuantan, Pahang would end as scheduled tomorrow.
"The EMCO at Taman Permata Apartment, Sandakan in Sabah was lifted today," he said.
On compliance with MCO standard operating procedures (SOPs), Ismail Sabri said 852 individuals were arrested for various offences yesterday and of the number, 821 were compounded and 31 others were remanded.
He said among the offences were failure to record personal details/check-in at the premises, not wearing a face mask, travelling inter-state or district without a permit and eating at food outlets.
