Residents of several villages in Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat who are currently under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) have requested that additional basic essentials be provided to them according to the needs of different households.
A resident of Kampung Batu 23, Sungai Lui, Farizuan Abdul Hamid, said there were other needs of the residents to obtain supplies such as eggs, baby diapers, baby formula milk and some other necessities.
“There have been shortcomings from the supplies provided. It could be better to have basic needs like eggs. Some villagers said they ran out of cooking gas too.
“Baby formula milk and even disposable diapers are running out of stock. It is among the essential items including onions and other essentials that the villagers needed very much,” he said when contacted by Astro AWANI.
He also hoped that the authorities could provide some flexibility and discretion to some individuals who would like to obtain daily essentials based on each family’s needs.
Asked about the level of mental preparedness of the people in his area, Farizuan said at this point in time they were still calm and connected to each other.
“As for me in Batu 23, we are quite calm. We communicate with each other through the WhatsApp app to comfort each other.
"We don't ask for much help, just basic necessities for the villagers to calm down a bit," he said.
Among the daily essentials he has received were canned sardines, sweetened condensed milk, rice, tea powder, sugar, salt and biscuits.
Several villages in Batu 21 to Batu 24 Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat were the second area to fall under the EMCO from midnight on Sunday.
