KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan MPs and the opposition need not join any committee formed from the Emergency Proclamation.
This was explained by Pokok Sena Member of Parliament who is also the Vice President of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), Datuk Mahfuz Omar in a brief statement on Thursday.
He said there was no emergency need proposed by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Cabinet who had lost the majority of MPs' support.
"Pakatan Harapan and Opposition MPs need not join any committee formed from the Proclamation of Emergency.
“This is because there is no emergency requirement proposed by the Prime Minister and the Cabinet which has lost the majority of MPs who support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as PM.
"The Prime Minister and the Perikatan Nasional government is the government that has seized the people's mandate.
“At the time the decision for an emergency was made by the Cabinet, the PN government has lost the majority.
“Only 110 (in support), and a day later the number dropped to 109.
"This is clear that the current Prime Minister and Cabinet are morally non-existent and not qualified to make decisions and present to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“If the opposition MPs join in, it means (they are) certifying the legitimacy of the Prime Minister and the Perikatan Nasional government," he added.
On January 12, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah consented to the proclamation of Emergency Proclamation be implemented nationwide as a proactive measure to curb the symptoms of the COVID-19 epidemic.
