The father of popular actress Emma Maembong was slashed in a robbery attempt at a house in Jalan Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, here Thursday.
Kuala Lumpur Police CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said the victim, Ismail Embong,68, was alone at 4pm when visited by a man armed with a parang.
"The man then demanded the victim to hand over valuables and money but the victim resisted and a scuffle ensued.
"In the scuffle, the victim was slashed in the hand and head and fled to a neighbour's house for help," he said when contacted by Bernama.
Rusdi said the man fled the scene. A neighbour took the victim to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.
The loss is being investigated. The case is investigated under Section 397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
