KUALA LUMPUR: The changing nature of work has forced organisations to place greater emphasis on employee motivation and well-being. The two are proving to be inextricably linked and critical to a company's productivity and overall success.
“When you take care of people, people will take care of business automatically. People have moved beyond just looking at salaries. Today, those who come for interviews for companies will ask them if they have work life balance. There was no such question 10 to 15 years ago,’’ says Datuk Wira Shahul Dawood, Chief Executive of HRD Corp on Agenda AWANI.
“Motivation and Wellbeing” is one of the key discussion pillars at the National Human Capital Conference & Exhibition (NHCCE) 2023 hosted by HRD Corp. The two-day event will bring together HR professionals, thought leaders and industry experts to share emerging trends, challenges and innovative solutions that are revolutionising the human capital landscape.
Over 30 world-renowned thought leaders in the field will share their insights, including Madiha Fuad, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Plus Vibes, a mental health support platform.
Madiha highlights the importance of a positive work culture, especially for young people.
“When we assist companies in different industries, it’s all about retention, satisfaction, happiness level and how long employees stay in the company. It is no longer about loyalty (to a company). It’s more about whether they like the company or whether they fit into the work culture. This is especially true among the younger workforce.”
The post COVID-19 era has also given way to a more flexible, remote, and digitally connected working environment. According to Shahul, the HR industry needs to be able to adapt and learn as these new trends can improve productivity and retention, leading to better profits and outcomes for businesses.
“Previously, we didn't know what flexi hour or work from home was but today, we are very happy to tell our employees you can work from home and that it doesn’t matter where you work from but what matters is your productivity,"' says Shahul.
HRD Corp, as the custodian of human capital development in Malaysia, believes in the transformation of human capital development to better capitalise on the limitless opportunities available in the future of work.
Through the NHCCE 2023 event happening on 30-31st October, at MITEC KL, industry leaders and business can embrace initiatives and strategies that can empower individuals and organisations to reach their full potential at all levels.
The public can secure their seats for NHCCE 2023 at www.hrdcorp.gov.my.
