The government is looking to impose harsher penalties to those who use violence against enforcement personnel on duty.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the matter was being studied comprehensively by reviewing all the existing laws.
This was stated in a written reply to Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng (BN-Tanjong Piai) who wished to know if the government would review the laws for that purpose.
It was reported earlier that a married couple Lor Ka Hoo, 36, and Tan Sit Fun, 31, assaulted a Shah Alam City Council female enforcement personnel who was on duty at the public car park in Sungai Buloh last November.
The couple was sentenced to 14 days in jail and fined RM3,000 by the Magistrate's Court here on November 25.
However the couple had languished longer in prision after the High Court in Shah Alam extend the jail term to five months. -- Bernama
