Engineer dies in motorcycle accident

An engineer died after falling off his motorcycle and being hit and dragged by a car for about one kilometre at 374.9 southbound near Tanjung Malim along the North-South Expressway, today.

Perak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy chief, DSP Mohd Mahiri Hussin said in the incident at 12.40am, Izzudin Hamdan, 26, from Sitiawan and his friend, Mohd Zahir Mohd Khair, 30, were riding their motorcycles towards Ulu Bernam from Manjung on the left lane.

He said Izzudin lost control and was thrown off the machine onto the middle lane.

"An oncoming Audi car hit and drag the victim towards the right lane before another vehicle hit him again before reaching the traffic divider," he said in a statement here today.

Meanwhile, the victim's motorcycle was dragged under an oncoming Hyundai Tucson causing it and the car to catch fire.

However, the driver and passengers in the car escaped unhurt, said Mohd Mahiri, adding, the body was sent to Slim River Hospital for post mortem.
