The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has denied claims on social media saying it was giving RM2,500 in aid to members every six months.
EPF's Corporate Affairs Department clarified that the RM2,500 was Death Benefit payment presented to dependents of the deceased as a gesture of compassion and to ease their financial burden while the withdrawal following death is made.
"The death benefit will be granted only once, subject to conditions.
"The member must be a Malaysian citizen who has not attained the age of 55 years at the time of death and the application for Death Withdrawal must be made within six months of the member's death," EPF said in a statement here today.
EPF has warned that it will take legal action against any individual who is found to spread false information about this.
