KUALA LUMPUR: Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) which operates KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit is increasing its train service frequency from August 1 to cater to the increasing passenger ridership.
ERL in a statement today said, as the first step towards full services, both the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit would continue to be operated as a combined service but with improved frequency to provide greater comfort and convenience to the growing number of passengers.
"The revised schedule will see the combined service frequency improving from every 15 minutes to every 10 minutes during weekday peak hours (six services running every hour).
"Off-peak frequency will be increased from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes (three services every hour)," read the statement.
ERL also mentioned that the first train departs at 5.00 am from both KL Sentral and KLIA2 every day while the last train departure is at 12.02 am from both terminals.
The peak hours are from 7.00 am until 9.00 am and 5.00 pm until 7.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
On another note, ERL said there would be no changes to the airport transfer fare on the combined service and customers are encouraged to buy tickets online or via the KLIA Ekspres website or app for special offers and to enjoy savings of up to 27 per cent.
The company targets to resume full KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services in the fourth quarter of this year, and thereupon the train operation will revert to the pre-pandemic service frequency and operation hours.
Air travellers and daily commuters are advised to check the train schedule and plan their journey ahead to minimise their waiting time as well as ensure they have plenty of time for flight check-in and bag drop at the airport.
