Escaped female detainee rearrested

The female detainee who escaped from police custody at the Raub Court compound, located about 165 kilometres from here on Sept 14, has been rearrested at a house in Kampung Gali yesterday.

Raub district police chief Supt Kama Azural Mohamed said the 20-year-old woman aged 23, was detained at 9 pm raid along with her boyfriend, 22, believed to have helped the woman escape.

“The motorcycle used during the incident was also found in the raid,” he said in a statement here, today.

Kama Azural said preliminary investigation found that the male suspect, from Benta, Lipis, have six previous criminal records including drugs and robbery.

On Sept 15, the media reported a handcuffed female detainee had escaped on a motorcycle while being brought back to the Raub district police headquarters lock-up after a court proceeding on a drug-related charge.
