KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali today lodged a police report against former Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas over alleged defamation in the latter’s recently-released book.
Mohamed Apandi, who is also a former AG, lodged a report on the contents of a book titled ‘My Story: Justice in the Wilderness’ at the Sentul District Police Headquarters (IPD) here accompanied by his lawyer, Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu, at 2.30 pm.
Mohamed Apandi, who was the AG from 2015 to 2018, through a statement issued after lodging the report, said it was made to ensure all parties who had been defamed, scandalised and humiliated by the book to get justice.
“This is especially so for officers in the Attorney General’s Chambers, who are now in a dilemma of wanting to defend themselves but this would mean going against their former head of department.
“Although various accusations were hurled at me during my time as the AG, I never once revealed any stories or information, not even in my memoirs as all I have are state secrets,” he said in the statement.
In his report, Mohamed Apandi said the recently published book contained criminal defamation against him, especially on page 199.
Meanwhile Sentul District Police chief ACP Beh Eng Lai confirmed receiving the report from Mohamed Apandi and the case is being investigated.
