Excavation truck driver crushed to death by excavator

A excavation truck driver was crushed to death by his own excavator after he lost control of the vehicle which overturned at Kampung Bukit Masjid, Mukim Kedawang, late Monday.

The incident which happened at 4.05pm involved 36-year-old Mohd Besri Said, from Kampung Ranggut, Mukim Padang Matsirat, who died at location due to severe head injuries.

A witness who only wanted to be known as Zulkifli, 40, said that the driver was repairing the village road on a steep cliff.

Everything happened so fast when the excavator suddenly lost control and overturned on its right, crushing the victim.

“I was able to scream out for the victim to jump but it was too late, he was squashed and the blood gushed out from his head,” he said.

Meanwhile, Langkawi OCPD Superintendant Harrith Kam Abdullah, confirmed the incident and said that they are conducting further investigations into the matter.

He said the operation to remove the body finished at 5.45pm before it was brought to Hospital Langkawi for an autopsy.

The victims body was claimed by his family on Monday night for burial after Tarawih prayers at his hometown.
