Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah today described the existing procedures adopted in making preparation to face floods as no longer effective and should be reviewed.

"This is my sincere opinion. We are not looking at floods as a big issue, we wait for it to happen and then deal with it.

"We should have a proactive action plan that can be our code of practice in the future," he told Bernama when visiting the flood relief centre at Cherok Paloh here today.

He also proposed for flood exercise to be conducted once in every three, six or nine months to train the people, especially potential victims, on what should be done in case of floods.

"We need to buckle up and prepare evacuation centres as soon as possible, just like the army being in the full state of preparedness," he added.
