Former PKR youth chief Mohamad Ezam Mohd Noor is demanding that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to come clean on Petronas’s bailout in 1998 as a move to save his son’ Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad (KPB).

Ezam said the Petronas’s bailout was also brought up in several meetings organised by the Ministry of Finance where many government officials had also raised the issue, Utusan reported.

He said with such huge amount of public fund used as a bailout to help his son, Mirzan, the former premier owes the people an explanation.

Dr Mahathir has been critical recently over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) fiasco which to date, had acquired a total of RM42 billion in debts.

Dr Mahathir has also been urging Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim to use his position as member of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to conduct a full investigation into allegations stating that he had misused the state government during his 22 years in office.

Dr Mahathir also warned Tunku Abdul Aziz to apologise if no evidence is found connecting him to the allegations which were hurled at him.

Dr Mahathir said he had not siphoned off any cash and never held any position in the bank, its management or involved in any decision making process.
