Extensions and upgrades for the Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai is taking their Elantra to the next level. By Jerrica Leong
Hyundai seem to want to make every car with their “H” logo as premium as they can get. The Elantra is the latest model to receive the premium treatment with a few refreshments both on the interior and exterior. What’s new for the facelifted Elantra? Here’s your cheat-sheet.
  • Overall length of the Elantra has increased to 4550mm that means it is now 20mm longer than the outgoing model although there are no changes to the wheelbase measurement.
  • To give it a more balance look, Hyundai has added a few millimetres to the front and rear bumpers as well.
  • The 1.6 Premium Elantra and the 1.8 Premium variants will adopt new LED Light Guides and Projection Headlamps while the front bumper, radiator grille, fog lamps are available across the board.
  • Even the alloy wheels and rear combination lamps received refreshment treatments as well to accentuate the Elantra’s premium car image.
  • Inside, Hyundai has relocated the air-conditioning vents and added a new Transmission Gear Shift (TGS) for all variants across the board.
  • The 1.6 Executive, 1.6 Premium and 1.8 Premium variants will have extra features such as Flex Steer System on the steering wheel; this system enables drivers to choose from normal, comfort or sports mode, Rear Air-conditioning vents, MirrorLink Audio Visual Receiver and an upgraded Supervision Cluster with 3.4-inch OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) Display for easy reading.
No changes were done to the Elantra’s powerplant, two engines, Nu D-VVT 1.8-litre MPI and Gamma 1.6-litre MPI D-CVVT, mated to a six-speed transmission to give the Elantra more power but at the same time consuming less fuel. The Elantra is also fitted with the latest active and passive safety technologies to ensure maximum protection for its occupants.
