Former Senator, Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Noor has returned to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Sinar Harian reports that Mohamad Ezam said he had submitted his membership form at the beginning of Ramadan and that it was also with the knowledge of PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Mohamad Ezam was reported to have said the decision was made at the suggestion of colleagues and PKR leaders to assist the party.
"My commitment is to eradicate the small attacks that interfere with PKR's journey and I choose to return to Petaling Jaya because that is where the party's oath of allegiance began in Taman Medan.
"I hope it will impact our friends in Selangor to rise again," he said when addressing the launch of the Gerakan Reformasi 98 in Tanjung Rambutan on Saturday.
Mohamad Ezam had previously expressed his willingness to rejoin PKR after receiving requests from grassroots members.
For the record, he was the former Youth Chief of Keadilan (AMK) during the early stages of the party's founding.
He left UMNO and joined PKR after Anwar was sacked from the post of Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO Deputy President in 1998.
Mohamad Ezam then rejoined UMNO after the 12th General Election and once again left the party and joined the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
Shortly after, he announced his resignation and announced the establishment of a new party known as the Parti Bebas Rasuah.
After a few months, Mohamad Ezam announced his departure from the party he had formed and focused on a non-governmental organisation known as Hisbah which was founded several years earlier.
Meanwhile, commenting on the action of State Assemblyperson Dr Daroyah Alwi to leave PKR, Mohamad Ezam acknowledged that the act of the former had affected the party.
However, he vowed to help strengthen Selangor PKR as the Selangor government needed to be defended as it was an important pillar of the party.
