Facebook goes down in a 15-minute meltdown

KUALA LUMPUR: The world’s largest social media network Facebook faced its longest service disruption when a major outage hit both its website and smartphone and tablet Apps.

During the outage, users entering the facebook.com URL were directed to a page which reads, “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”

According to The Guardian, this is the first time Facebook has suffered a widespread outage causing many users to joke about the situation on other social media platforms like Twitter.

The outage lasted for approximately 15 minutes and the site has been restored at approximately 4.20pm.
