A fairway-hit by Standard Chartered

Throw a golf game in a prestigious country club, add a dash of celebrity sparkle – read Liverpool legend, a chauffeured Rolls Royce experience and you would have the makings of a golfing experience like no other. Coined as the ‘Inimitable golfing experience’, this is Standard Chartered’s way of saying thank you to its corporate clients and most discerning of Priority customers.

Held on 1st December 2014, the Inimitable Golf Experience 2014 with Standard Chartered was envisioned as a fun and exclusive approach for Standard Chartered to engage and strengthen relationships between them and their key stakeholders. The Palm Garden Golf Club in Putrajaya played host to the ritzy event involving 18-holes of golfing action.

Other opulent brands such Havana cigars, Singleton whisky and Truefitt & Hill also joined in the proceedings to round off one-of-a-kind premium golfing experience. Not forgetting the most luxurious name in motoring, Rolls Royce providing piloted driving experiences for the lucky few attendees. Also on hand were local and international celebrities such as Liverpool’s living legend Robbie Fowler, Miss Malaysia 2013 - Natalia Ng, FHM hottie Cay Kuijpers and hosted by Michelle Lee from Astro’s Football Overload. Standard Chartered was represented by Mr. Lai Shu Wei – head of Brand and Marketing, Ms. Alina Grace Tan – head of Priority and International Banking and the Managing Director & Head of Wealth Management of Standard Chartered Pramod Veturi. The exciting 18-holes of golf were played according to a Stableford scoring system. Once all players complete their game, scores are tallied not based on the total number of strokes required, instead players are scored based on the number of strokes taken for each hole. This points system not only makes the game enjoyable, it remains fair for all. However, Standard Chartered upped the ante by adding novelty holes, but what are they exactly?

Remember the celebrities? Well, the first challenge is to out-drive Robbie Fowler, Cay Kuijpers & Natalia Ng for a chance at the lucky draw. Or take part in the ‘Black Hole’ challenge – regardless of the par, contestant need to get the ball in the cup within four strokes, but which hole is it? Or the ‘Wild Ace Card’ challenge, where drawing the wrong card from a deck could either improve or destroy a player’s score for the particular hole. Perhaps Standard Chartered’s gameplay should be adopted for the next PGA tournament, here’s to hoping. Upon completing a perfect round of golf, participants were allowed to cool off and unwind amidst cool Jazz music in the Standard Chartered experiential lounge. Get a hair-trim from the oldest name in the business – Truefitt & Hill, or light up a Havana Cigar while sipping Singleton whisky on the rocks, nothing but the best will do for this golf experience. Finally, complete the experience of a lifetime with a chauffeured ride in a Rolls Royce Ghost.
