The family of a 26-year-old naked woman who was assaulted by another woman in which the incident went viral in cyberspace, has appealed to the public to delete the video footage.
Kak Ni, 49, the mother of the assaulted woman said her family was now living in fear and disgrace while her daughter was traumatised and hiding in the house, as the video was making its rounds in cyberspace.
She also expressed concern over the safety of her family due to threats received from an unknown individual.
"Three days ago I received a phone call from a man who threatened to do something bad to my family. That is why I asked the police to patrol the area where we live and hope that the culprit will be arrested soon," she said.
Earlier, she had a meeting with Kelantan police chief, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail at the state police headquarters, here, Tuesday.
Kak Ni said her family would not hesitate to take legal action against those who spread the video footage.
Two short video clips, which last 2.08 minutes and 1.15 minutes respectively, showed a naked woman being assaulted by another woman, believed to have taken place on Wednesday at a hotel in Sungai Golok, Thailand.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman said police had received reports on the incident from the victim's family and from the person who allegedly spread the video.
"We will open an investigation paper on the case under Section 223 of the Communications and Multimedia Commission Act 1998, and Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code," he said.
He added that a team from the Integrity and Compliance Standard Department would be sent to help the victim. -- Bernama
