The remains of Anthony Kevin Morais are still lying at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) and have yet to be claimed by family members.
As at 9.30pm tonight, attempts by the media to interview Kevin's family representatives at Nirvana Memorial Centre in Sungai Besi could not confirm when the body would be claimed.
In fact the late DPP's younger brother, Datuk Richard Morais declined to comment on claiming the remains when approached by reporters.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief, Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad when contacted said police had allowed the body of Kevin to be claimed and handed the matter to the family and HKL.
"Police have handed the matter to the family to claim the remains. The media should ask HKL why the family had not claimed the body today," he said.
The body of Morais, 55, the deputy head of Appellate and Trial Division of the Attorney-General's Chambers, was found in a cemented drum at Persiaran Subang Mewah, Subang Jaya, near here last Wednesday.
The late DPP was reported missing on Sept 4 and was last seen leaving his apartment at Menara Duta here to his office in Putrajaya in a Proton Perdana with registration WA6264Q.
So far, police have held 11 suspects to assist investigations in the murder case.
