KUALA LUMPUR: Having completed her second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, Malaysian gymnastics queen Farah Ann Abdul Hadi is now gearing up for the Challenge Cup in Cairo in June.
The 27-year-old Selangor-born gymnast said that she is very grateful and relieved that she has completed all two doses of the vaccine and is feeling more secure to train and a lot more confident to travel overseas.
She is aiming to give a good performance in Cairo, which will be her last tournament before the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
"I only have the Egypt Challenge Cup in June, I will go to Egypt and when I come back, I have to prepare for the Olympics, so the timeline is quite right, and I take what I can get. As for me, I am so grateful for having the chance to go to Egypt because it's been a long time since we had any tournaments," she said after receiving the second jab of the vaccine at the DBKL Sports Complex here yesterday.
Farah Ann's last competition was in the Philippines SEA Games in November 2019, whereby she bagged three gold medals, in the all-around, floor exercise and uneven bars.
Farah Ann is currently undergoing stay-in training at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, which does not come under the targeted Movement Control Order (MCO) announced by the government yesterday.
This latest MCO effective May 6-17 will be implemented in six districts in in Selangor namely Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
Under this MCO, inter-district and inter-state travel are not allowed except for emergencies, work and movements permitted under the standard operating procedures.
