Fate of Muhyiddin, Shafie remain unknown, speculation rife to be axed
The meeting is seen as significant because it is no longer a question of whether Muhyiddin can deliver a speech during the winding, but rather to his fate in the biggest party of the Malays
The UMNO Supreme Council meeting slated to take place at 8pm Wednesday will see the fate of the two leaders, deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and vice president Datuk Seri Shafie Mohd Apdal.
The meeting is seen as significant because it is no longer a question of whether Muhyiddin can deliver a speech during the winding, but rather to his fate in the country's biggest party of the Malays.
UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor Tuesday has hinted on what awaits its UMNO deputy president.
Tengku Adnan, has firmly stressed in earlier reports that Muhyiddin has crossed the line in his speech at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kampung Baru on Monday.
He said, Muhyiddin could lose his position in the party as a result of the attitudes and actions.
"He risks losing job and it depends on the decision of the UMNO Disciplnary Board," said Tengku Adnan.
In fact, the former Deputy Prime Minister also did not attend the party's briefing by the president at the Merdeka Hall, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on Tuesday night.
However, Mohd Shafie, who was also dropped from the cabinet during the reshuffling in July, attended the briefing.
