KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Ministry is introducing seven initiatives under Inisiatif Wilayah Cakna (IWC) 5.0 to reduce the burden of Malaysians living in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan who are affected by the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0, especially those in the B40 group and the urban poor.
Its minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the first initiative was implementing free community-targeted COVID-19 Rapid Test Kit Antigen (RTK-Ag) screening tests with the first batch comprising 20,000 elderly and those at risk this June 1.
"The screenings will be done at public housing projects (PA), people's housing projects (PPR) , traditional villages and locations under the Enhanced MCO (EMCO) with the schedule to be announced at a later date," he said during a Facebook Live session today.
The second initiative is implementation of the MYMedic@Wilayah Mobile Vaccine Trucks, which will target the Kuala Lumpur population for vaccination by the year-end.
He said the mobile vaccine trucks would provide vaccinations from one location to another as scheduled and suitable vaccination areas were being identified, including 67 PPR, using seven trucks in total.
"In speeding up the vaccination process, the homeless are not left out as the first phase beginning this May 27 will involve 119 homeless individuals staying at the Anjung Kelana homeless transit centre, Taman Desa and Anjung Singgah.
"The remaining 132 homeless individuals will be vaccinated in stages at Dewan Komuniti Sentul Perdana," he added.
In light of schools closure and more students studying online, Annuar said the ministry would provide a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Mahir Tutor digital class, benefiting 20,000 SPM students from June 1 till the examination is completed.
He said it would cover 10 core/compulsory/critical SPM subjects and the fees would be borne by Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan.
"Also, to ensure the online learning process is conducted smoothly, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will provide free WiFi at all public housing and people's housing projects," he said.
Annuar also announced payment exemption for the renewal of business licences under Inisiatif Wilayah Bebas Berniaga (IWBB) that was supposed to end this July, but has been extended to Dec 31, benefiting 4,510 licensed traders.
Another initiative to be introduced soon is the provision of 50 business lots at Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) under the Kuala Lumpur City Youth Entrepreneur programme.
"To boost compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP), DBKL, through KL Watch will continue to expand its enforcement at hotspots and areas of public interest, especially during the holidays," he said.
