KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) is committed to ensuring that the children of Felda's new generation have a high level of digital skills through programmes implemented in schools in all 317 settlements nationwide.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said a total of 200 primary schools in Felda settlements would have their own coding and robotics clubs so that the younger generation would gain more exposure to the digital world at a young age.
"The coding and robotics club programme in primary schools will be launched soon.
"Exposure to the digital world at a young age is hoped to make Felda more technology-oriented in the future," he said at a media briefing session on the Success and Direction of 'Felda Baharu' at Menara Felda here today.
He hoped the digital programmes in primary schools would be a factor in encouraging the younger generation to continue living in Felda settlements.
Through such programmes, Idris said the Felda generation would be savvy in the fields of technology, electrical and electronics to drive Felda to be listed in Fortune 500 by 2040.
He added that the coding and robotics programme in primary schools was a follow-up to the success of the Felda Smart Classroom programme in 101 secondary schools in Felda settlements in 2020.
The Felda Smart Classroom aims to improve excellence, produce a new generation that is more creative and innovative and able to adapt to new technologies, he said.
