Fendi 3Baguette
FENDI presents the 3Baguette, an evolution of the iconic Baguette bag created by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997 becoming immediately a cult item, a real “phenomenon” of the fashion world that transformed the whole industry by defining an archetype of style. The 3Baguette is a modern reinterpretation of the original Baguette yet it keeps its original shape making it slightly more sheer and structured. The Baguette has become a timeless and persistently tasteful bag and is still ground-breaking in its creative philosophy under which it was conceived - a simple style and comfortable handbag to wear close to the body just like the French baguette (bread) from which it gets its name.
“When I created the Baguette it was mainly a simple, personal desire for a change from traditional bags originating perhaps by a some kind of un-satisfaction with the 90’s minimalism, and I believe that the homologation of minimalism is restrictive in the creative process”, states Silvia Venturini Fendi, “now after almost two decades, the will to reinterpret it and give it an contemporary and interesting functional twist, playing with the most iconic part of the Baguette, the buckle,” concludes the designer.
A fascinating fact is that the innovative mechanic buckle is a unique work of engineering. The double FF buckle rotates and decomposes in tiny scattered lines while the bag opens and closes! Thin and very sophisticated, the F letters stand alone and not in an overall buckle. The FF logo goes from being a decorative touch to a purely practical one – as a lock.
The functionality is the crucial word when speaking about the 3Baguette. Thanks to the transformable strap, it can be worn short under the arm, long aside the body, or the strap can be rotated and placed under the bag, to carry it as a pochette. The surprise effect is a fun additional feature when speaking about the 3Baguette, as the double pleated body extension reveals diverse colours in contrast with the rest of the bag.
