FENDI's Collaboration With The Grand Budapest
For this quirky Wes Anderson film, FENDI has developed in collaboration with Milena Canonero the fabulous fur pieces for two of the leading characters: Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton.
Remember Edward Norton (Oscar nominated actor for Birdman)? He plays Inspector Henckel in Grand Budapest and FENDI created a voluminous double-breasted military-style coat in grey astrakhan fur for his character.
FENDI also provided the extravagant, hand painted, Italian silk and black mink cape worn by 'Madame D', played by the incomparable Tilda Swinton.
The females main characters also donned FENDI creations from their capes to their fur stoles throughout the film. Each garment has carefully thought through and designed with Milena Canonero to recreate the perfect 1920’s setting and atmosphere for the charming movie. All pieces have been created in the historical FENDI fur atelier and deliver the highest savoir faire and undeniable desire for experimentation.
“We are extremely proud to have collaborated with the Oscar Winner Milena Cannonero for the Grand Budapest Hotel and to have created with her the memorable Tilda Swinton Edward Norton fur pieces. This ultimate collaboration with an important costume designer as Milena reaffirms the close dialogue between FENDI and the Cinema that continues to be fed by a natural passion," states Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of FENDI.
For one thing, we film definitely deserved that Oscar win for Best Costume Design and thanks to FENDI, the whimsical and wondrous world of the Grand Budapest came to life in all its enchanted glory!
