FIC probe: MACC raids six companies including international audit firm
The preliminary results show that the purchase of the hotel has resulted in FIC losing hundreds of millions of ringgit.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today raided six companies, believed to be involved in the purchase of a hotel by Felda Investment Corporation (FIC).
Other than the FIC office at Balai FELDA, Jalan Gurney here, the Putrajaya MACC Investigation Department also raided the audit and accounting firm, Deloitte Malaysia at Taman Tun Dr Ismail and law firm, Mohamed Ridza & Co in Damansara.
The raid at about 10am also involved Henry Butcher Malaysia (Sarawak), Raine & Horne International Zaki Partners Sdn. Bhd dan Gegasan Abadi Properties Sdn. Bhd in Kuching, Sarawak.
A source with MACC reportedly confirmed that the raid was conducted to have a closer look at documents related to the purchase of a four-star hotel in Kuching, believed to be bought by FIC, with a price exceeding the market value.
Meanwhile, MACC deputy Director-General (Operations) Datuk Azam Baki, when contacted by Astro AWANI said that a complete statement would be issued in regards to the raid.
The investigation was the second from the enforcement agency after the purchase of a hotel in Kingston, London between 20103 and 2015 which was investigated recently.
