ANKARA: Fighting for control of the Donbas region in Ukraine continued Monday, according to the country's president.

"The situation in Donbas is difficult, acute," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an address to the nation as reported by Anadolu Agency.

Bakhmut, Kreminna and other areas in Donbas now required "maximum strength and concentration," he said in the video message released on social media

He urged Ukrainians to be ready for possible Russian missile attacks or provocations.

"Air defence is preparing, the state is preparing, and everyone must prepare. Please pay attention to the sirens," he said.
