The difference in opinion between UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has been resolved this morning.

The meeting between Abdul Rahman and Bung Moktar was recorded at a party program in Sepanggar, when the two Sabah leaders shook hands while witnessed by BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Sinar Harian portal reported that BN Youth Chief, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirmed that the conflict between Abdul Rahman and Bung Moktar has ended through the meeting.

Asyraf was quoted as saying that all Sabah BN leaders, including Abdul Rahman, are ready to recognize Bung Moktar as the director of the Sabah State Election (PRN) which starts on September 20.

"Yes, this morning in Sepanggar (Abdul Rahman and Bung Moktar returned to peace). (UMNO) President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has met with the Sabah leadership and stressed that all can set aside past disputes and focus on facing the Sabah PRN," Asyraf told Sinar Harian.

Earlier, a total of 12 Sabah UMNO Division heads led by Abdul Rahman and a group of party leaders objected to the appointment of Bung Moktar as the party's Director of Election Machinery for the PRN this month.

Abdul Rahman, who is also the Tuaran UMNO division head, said that the leader who is the Director of Election Machinery should be free from negative perceptions and not burdened with personal problems that can affect voter support.

However, Bung Moktar took a stand of silence.

Asyraf also said in the meeting, Ahmad Zahid stressed the strength of UMNO and BN all this while was because the service to the people was carried out sincerely and diligently.

"Therefore, the president (Ahmad Zahid) advised not to neglect the people's hopes for UMNO and BN to return to defend their fate by setting aside any differences," he said.

The portal also reported that Ahmad Zahid was quoted as saying that there was no crisis between Bung Moktar and Abdul Rahman but more to differences of opinion in the family.

"There is no crisis, actually, this is just like a storm in the tea cup. This is just a matter between siblings. There is no problem that cannot be solved,” said Ahmad Zahid.
