Fire breaks out in Kampung Kerinchi, investigations underway

A large fire sweeps through a string of shops and homes in Kampung Kerinchi, Bangsar.
KUALA LUMPUR: A restaurant, a workshop and several houses have been badly damaged after a blazed ripped through the area near the Vista Angkasa apartment complex in Kampung Kerinchi, Bangsar.
The fire that broke out at around 3.32pm on Thursday also left more than 50 motorcycles and five cars destroyed after the workshop they were in was engulfed in flames.
Pantai Fire and Rescue Department chief Hamid Daud said 33 firemen from the Pantai and Hang Tuah fire stations were deployed to battle the blaze.
Hamid said the fire had spread quickly but they managed to control the flames within an hour.
He added no injuries had been reported and investigations on the cause of the fire is currently underway.
