Firemen to get more superbikes if necessary - Halimah

The Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government will study the need to provide more superbikes to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).

Deputy Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said the FRD had been using superbikes since 2003 under the Rapid Intervention Motorcycle programme.

"The use of superbikes means that firemen can arrive at the scene quickly to carry out rescue mission," she told reporters after dinner and the launch of new models of Kawasaki superbikes here, last night.

The Kuala Lumpur and the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department have 27 superbikes at their disposal.

Kawasaki introduced four new models of superbikes namely Kawasaki Z900, Z650, Ninja 650 and Versys-X 250. - BERNAMA
