Firemen help climber down from Fraser's Hill

The 25-year-old man whose cramps were caused by cold weather was brought down to safety in the nearly three-hour rescue operation beginning 7.30pm, involving firemen from the Raub Fire and Rescue Department.

Its chief, Khairul Anuar Yaakob said earlier, the victim had difficulty moving his body when he joined a group of 15 climbers walking downhill.

He said most members of the group comprising 10 men and five women did not know each other personally and had only planned to climb the hill.

"Originally, there were only 14 people who obtained permits from the police for the hike and the victim decided to join them at the last minute," he added when contacted here today.

Khairul Anuar said the group began climbing the hill at 5.30am yesterday and took three hours to get to the top before they started walking downhill at 4pm.

The victim, however, had difficulty moving his body about 7pm, leading to the group to seek help from the fire and rescue department which sent him to a nearby clinic for examination.
