The report of the internal investigation into the New Year's Eve fireworks mishap in Klang will be tabled at the state executive council meeting on Wednesday.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the state government would study the findings of the report before deciding on any further action.
"I will table the report at the meeting and we will study the recommendations in the report before we let MPK (Klang Municipal Council) know the appropriate action for them to take," he told reporters after joining a cycling event, 'Pulau Indah 180km Malaysia 2017', at Central Spectrum Sdn Bhd, here, Sunday.
In the incident at 12.05am, 10 adults and four children were injured when they were hit by fragments of fireworks which exploded on the ground.
The fireworks display at the Pandamaran Sports Complex was part of the Fiesta Gegar Klang 2016 organised by MPK from Dec 30 to Jan 1 at the complex grounds.
Mohamed Azmin said one MPK staff, who was involved in the incident, had been ordered to take one month's leave from Jan 3, pending the outcome of the police investigations.
"MPK had also made a statement earlier that it had nothing to do with the incident and I am sure that the investigations are not focused on one individual only but as a whole," he said.
Recently, Klang South district police chief, ACP Alzafny Ahmad said police had handed to the deputy public prosecutor the investigation papers on the mishap for further action after it was found that the fireworks display was held without a permit.
On another matter, Mohamed Azmin said the state government would review the proposed Chinese cemetery project at Kampung Bukit Cherakah, Kuala Selangor, following the protest against the project by residents from five villages in the area.
He said he had instructed the Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) to go to the ground and meet the people to immediately solve the issue.
On Wednesday, about 300 residents held a protest against the project which they said was unsuitable because the location was close to residential areas. - Bernama
