Firm action against those taking part in anti-Lynas gathering - Police
AZIZ: The police have obtained an injunction banning anyone gathering within a 20-metre radius from the Lynas building.
The police will not hesitate to take firm action against any anti-Lynas group or quarters planning to hold an illegal gathering at the Lynas factory in the Gebeng Industrial area.
Kuantan police chief ACP Abdul Aziz Salleh said an investigation paper had been opened, following a report by Syarikat Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd on June 16 that supporters of anti-Lynas, dubbed 'Green Group', wanted to hold a gathering near the factory.
"However, the police have obtained an injunction from the Kuantan Magistrate's Court banning any quarters, especially the 'Green Group' and individuals from approaching, gathering, protesting and putting up obstructions at the Lynas Company, within a 20-metre radius from the Lynas building," he told reporters at the Kuantan police headquarters here today.
He said the gathering was expected to involve 1,000 participants.
