The Federal Level Technical Committee created to study the implementation of hudud law or the Syariah Criminal Code (II) Enactment 1993 in Kelantan, will hold its first meeting tomorrow.
Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said it would be held after the meeting with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom in Putrajaya on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters after a ceremony to give away donations of Hari Raya cookies to 12 security forces in Kota Baharu, Wednesday, Mohd Amar said the meeting would also be attended by six of its representatives.
The security forces receiving the goodies included the Police Force, Armed Forces, the Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department, and the Kelantan Anti-Smuggling Unit.
On May 2, Jamil Khir announced that a technical committee would be formed at the federal level to study the implementation of the Syariah Criminal Code (II) Enactment 1993 in Kelantan.
The committee was set up after PAS said it would present the Private members' Bill (hudud law) in Parliament to obtain consent to implement the Syariah Criminal Code (II) Enactment 1993.
The private member's bill was aimed at getting the consent to implement the hudud law as provided under Article 76 (A) of the Federal Constitution.
