Fisherman found drowned after falling off boat
According to the victim's friend, who witnessed the incident, Rajendran fell into the sea after his legs got stuck in a fishing net while fishing in the area. - Astro AWANI
GEORGE TOWN: A fisherman was found drowned after falling from a boat while fishing in the Pulau Jerejak waters, here yesterday.
Penang Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director, Maritime Capitan Abd Razak Mohamed said upon receiving information regarding the incident, a search and rescue operation was activated to look for the victim, identified as M.Rajendran, 56.
"Upon arrival at the scene at 3.15 pm, we found the victim's body floating in the sea near the boat. The victim had gone fishing with a friend," he said in a statement today.
He added according to the victim's friend, who witnessed the incident, the man fell into the sea after his legs got stuck in a fishing net while fishing in the area.
The body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem.
