Fisherman makes gruesome discovery at Kampung Rantau Abang beach

Police in Terengganu say a fisherman discovered the badly decomposed remains of an unidentified person on the beach at Kampung Rantau Abang.

The gruesome discovery was made at around 4.30pm on Monday.

Yusof Harun, 54, had been in the area looking for his fishing net which had drifted ashore when he stumbled across the remains hidden among the bushes.

He then proceeded to the Rantau Abang police station to lodge a report.

District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zailani Yaakub confirmed receiving the report and said the remains could belong to a foreign fisherman which had been brought in by the tides.

He said police have not yet received a missing persons report in the area.

The remains have been brought to the Dungun Hospital for further investigation.
