The police detained a fisherman this morning, on suspicion of sending messages insulting the Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, via Facebook last Saturday.
The 46-year-old suspect was picked up about 11am, south east of Pulau Tioman while onboard a fishing vessel. Two cellphones and a SIM card were seized.
Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the suspect was believed to be the owner of Facebook account 'Minah Pendek'.
He said two police reports were received at 8.20am and 9am on May 28, after the messages insulting Tunku Ismail were sent, he said in a statement here.
Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said the suspect would be remanded tomorrow.
