Five flood relief centres stay open in Kuantan this morning

Continuous rain this morning caused five relief centres to remain open to shelter 141 flood victims from 33 families in the Kuantan district.
A spokesman from the Kuantan district police headquarters Flood Operations Room said 40 victims were placed at the Sungai Lembing police station after their houses in Sungai Lembing were inundated.
"Another four flood relief centres in the district are Sekolah Kebangsaan Cherating, sheltering 31 people from eight families, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pandan (27 people from five families), Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Ular (24 victims from six families and Kampung Chendor hall (19 people from five families)," he told Bernama, here today.
He said two main roads at Kilometre 34 of Jalan Kuantan-Maran and Kilometre 24 of Jalan Kuantan-Sungai Lembing were closed to all traffic while the road at Simpang Kempadang Makmur junction was closed to light traffic.
Meanwhile, a Pahang police contingent headquarters Flood Operations Room spokesman confirmed that there were no flood victims in other districts.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department website showed two rivers in Pahang had breached the warning level, namely Sungai Kuantan at Bukit Kenau (22.31m)surpassing the warning level of 20.75m and Sungai Lembing at Kuala Tahan (69.08m) exceeding the warning level of 66.00m.
