Five Tamil schools in Melaka have received a special allocation of RM360,000 from the Education Ministry to carry out minor maintenance projects, said Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan.
The allocation was provided by the federal government under Budget 2016 for the in-school development of Tamil national type schools, he said.
The money must be spent prudently, particularly to repair school infrastructure and facilities including rewiring and roof repair, he said to reporters after handing over a cheque for the amount here today.
He also said that the ministry would monitor the repairs at these schools and would take action if the money was not expended as instructed.
The five schools to benefit from the allocation are SJKT Ladang Sungai Baru, SJKT Ladang Serkam, SJKT Ladang Bukit Asahan, SJKT Ladang Bukit Kajang and SJKT Ladang Gadek.
Kamalanathan also said that the ministry desired to create more vocal student leaders to help the government in the implementation of the National Transformation 2050 or TN50. - BERNAMA
