Police detained five Myanmar nationals on suspicion of robbing a trader at the Selayang wholesale market last Thursday.
Sentul district police deputy chief Supt Mohamed Rafiq Mohamed Mustafa said all the suspects, aged between 17 and 29, were picked up at a house in Selayang, barely 24 hours, after the incident following a tip-off.
He said in the 5.35am incident, the 50-year-old victim was pushed by a group of men until he fell to the ground at a car park near the market before they fled the scene with the man's cash and mobile phone, all of which were valued at approximately RM10,000.
"Police also recovered a sum of money believed to be the proceeds from the robbery," he said in a statement here today.
The suspects would be remanded for two weeks beginning last Friday, Mohamed Rafiq added.
