Five rural libraries in Kemaman and Dungun were badly damaged in the floods early last December, causing a loss of about RM500,000.
Terengganu Public Libraries Director Datuk Nor Akmar Abdul Fatah said four of these libraries were in the Kemaman district - Kampung Fikri, Kampung Seberang Tayor, Kampung Air Putih and Kampung Pasir Gajah,- while the fifth was in Kampung Kuala Jengal in Hulu Dungun.
"Other losses including stationery, books, computer systems and furniture damaged in the flood on Dec 2 amounted to about RM150,000.
"This does not include the damage to the buildings which we estimate will cost RM500,000 to be repaired," she told reporters after receiving a RM150,000 donation from ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc at a dinner officiated by the chairman of the State Education, Higher Education, Innovation and Special Functions Committee Ghazali Taib, here last night.
Also present were Terengannu State Assemblyman Zubir Embong and Chairman of Exxonmobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia, J Hunter Farris.
