Five suspects detained in kidnap-murder case
KHALID: It is believed that the suspects failed to get any ransom money, so they killed the victims in the forests and dumped their bodies into the ravine.
The Royal Malaysian Police confirmed having detained five Myanmar nationals on suspicion of involvement in kidnapping and killing two Bangladeshis in Genting Highlands, Pahang, last month.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the suspects were believed to have kidnapped and killed the victims before dumping the bodies into a ravine.
"When they failed to get the ransom money, they took the victims into the forest before killing them and dumping their bodies into the ravine," he told reporters today.
Khalid, however, declined to comment further on the matter.
It is learnt that Bentong police would hold a press conference on the case at 5.30pm tomorrow.
Earlier, Khalid witnessed a fire drill carried out at Menara 1, Bukit Aman Police headquarters here.
The IGP said police was also planning to collaborate with the Fire and Rescue Department in providing training to members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) to use water cannon in the event of fire.
"This way, the FRU will be the first team to respond in any case of fire in any police complexes, such as the FRU complex, PDRM College and the General Operations Force headquarters in Cheras," he said, adding that further discussions on the matter was ongoing.
