Five teenagers perish in tragic car crash near Juru

Five friends, all teenage boys, who were on their way home in Nibong Tebal died in a tragic accident at Km 141.9 of the North South Expressway near the Juru Rest & Recreation (R&R), late Tuesday.
Four of the five who perished were Mar Jin Quan, 18, Tan Chee Win, 17, Song Jing Ming,17, and Chye Zhi Fei, 17, while the identity of the fifth victim who died at the Seberang Jaya Hospital has yet to be determined.
According to the Perai Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Norizal Md Rabani, during the 9.30pm incident, the car lost control and crashed into a tree, killing four of them on the spot.
Norizal said all five teenagers were pinned inside the car due to the impact of the crash while firemen who took about 30 minutes to extricate the victims later sent the bodies to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Azman Abd Lah said based on the condition of the car, police have not ruled out the possibility that the car was speeding.
Azman urged anyone with information about the accident to contact the police to assist in the investigation.
