Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua should focus his energy on answering the ongoing police investigations over a leak in the Public Accounts Committee, said 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
"YB Tony Pua should focus his energies on properly answering the ongoing police investigations and answering the rakyat on this scandal which has now disgraced the PAC process," said the state investment fund in response to Tony’s request for 1MDB to ‘deny’ the allegations made by Wall Street Journal (WSJ) recently.
1MDB added that clear explanations on the allegations made by WSJ on September 9 and September 18 respectively have also been provided and is available for the public.
“True to form, YB Tony Pua has conveniently forgotten to mention the clear denials by 1MDB issued on September 9, 2015 and September 18, 2015 respectively.,” 1MDB said in a statement today.
"Despite the spurious and unproven allegations raised by the Wall Street Journal in its first article dated September 9, 2015, further to the USD 1.4 billion deposit from 1MDB in 2012, IPIC (International Petroleum Investment Co.) was and remains, the guarantor of two 1MDB bonds totalling USD 3.5 billion.
"And despite the malicious and wrong second Wall Street Journal article on September 18, 2015, upon payment of the "nearly USD 1 billion" deposit by 1MDB, the options over the energy assets have indeed been terminated," stated 1MDB.
The company also wondered why Tony was not bothered by the admission made by WSJ stating that it has reviewed the documents that are part of the PAC investigation.
“We further wonder why Tony is not at all bothered by the second arrogant admission by the WSJ, that it has reviewed documents that are part of the ongoing PAC investigation.
“This is a clear scandal and a breach of Malaysian law,” it said.
